Biography A celebrated Baul singer, sadhak, philosopher, composer and great Baul poet of Bengal, Nabani Das Baul owns the pride of being the first Baul to spread Baul songs and philosophy throughout India via his unique singing style. Rabindranath Tagore, poet Kazi Nazrul, Tara Shankar, Banaful, Kshiti Mohan Shastri, Dr. Bidhan, Chandra Roy and many more were among the close associates of Nabani Das Baul who even composed music for Rabindranath Tagore's poems and influenced Tagore so strongly, that the Nobel Prize winning poet became deeply interested in the Baul movement. This apart it is worth mentioning that Nabani Das Baul was very committed to supporting the Indian revolution against the British during their occupation and thereby dedicated many songs to strengthen his people and spread hope and determination through these trying times. Owning a mission to popularize the Baul music, he was also known to provide the the Baul people an opportunity to leave their huts in rural Bengal and share their beautiful songs with the people of India. Nabani's songs were quite unique in that they were carefully crafted with beautiful and meaningful lyrics. The life and teachings of Nabani Das Baul were brought out in the form of books by the many of the writers who focused their research and work on the Baul culture of that time.
