La Peruanisima Sasana Baca from her latest CD "Afrodiaspora" Susana Baca is now one of the biggest stars on the world music scene. Several years ago, however, she used to sing a capella selling homemade fruit jam while traveling along the Pacific coast documenting the legacy of Afro-descendants in the music of Peru. In her latest CD, she goes beyond the Peruvian borders and explore the music of the African Diaspora in the Americas. Reggaeton band Calle 13 rap over "Plena y Bomba"putting a contemporary spin on a Puerto Rican genre that dates back to the days of slavery (Afropop). Music is hers pictures are mine :-).
