Wrecking Crew (Soupy Sales) - SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN' TO TOWN (Christmas) (1963) video

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Reprise 244) Out of Los Angeles, this tune labeled as by 'The Soupy Sales Band' is in reality LA's cream of the crop session players who became known as 'The Wrecking Crew'. Recorded in the fall of 1963 at Hollywood's Gold Star Studio, arranger Jack Nitzsche conducts one of the shortest 'Wall Of Sound' holiday outings on vinyl clocking in at a brief 1:30. What's interesting is that Nitzsche arranged this track at the same studio, with the same musicians, at the same point in time that he worked with Phil Spector on the infamous Philles Records Christmas Album. The A-side utilizes the same backing track without the lead melody on the hammond organ and features the vocals of funny man, Soupy Sales under the title of 'Santa Claus Is Surfin' To Town'. (The B&W photo in the video shows Jack Nitzsche and members of The 'Wrecking Crew' in the studio.)

Running time: 01:38
