Rules of Entry
- Entrants must submit a portfolio of 5 images. The images must work together to form a cohesive portfolio. Pictures will judged independently and as a set.
- Images should be submitted as an SRGB JPEG file that does not exceed the maximum file size (400kB). Images should be no larger than 700 x 700 pixels. Images can be in colour or black & white.
- You may only submit digital files using the upload system.
- International entries will be accepted. Entries shall not be accepted from employees (and their families) of IPC Media (the publisher of NME), including photographers commissioned by NME; its printers and agents, the suppliers of the prizes and any other companies associated with the competition.
- Photos must not previously have been published in or commissioned by a national UK music magazine (including but not limited to NME. Q, Kerrang, Clash, The Fly, Observer Music Monthly)
- Proof of identity may be required and proof of age may be required where the category contains an age restriction.
- Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed. All entries must be made directly by the person entering the competition.
- No purchase is necessary.
- IPC or Nikon or their associated group companies shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury of any nature howsoever caused, sustained by any entrant under this promotion. However, nothing in these rules shall have the effect of excluding or restricting liability for personal injury, death, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation caused by the proven negligence of employees or agents of IPC or Nikon or their associated group companies.
- Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification.
- Any entries for which votes are received (via the online voting mechanism) using methods generated by a script, macro or through the use of automated devices may be disqualified.
- Where IPC, reasonably believes that votes awarded (via the online voting mechanism) to a particular entry have been manipulated such entry may be disqualified.
- The winner(s) is(are) responsible for expenses and arrangements not specifically included in the prizes, including any necessary travel documents, passports and visas.
- IPC reserve the right to amend or alter the terms of competitions and reject entries from entrants not entering into the spirit of the competition.
- The winner(s) agree(s) to the use of their name, photograph and disclosure of country of residence and will co-operate with any other reasonable requests by IPC relating to any post-winning publicity.
- Images submitted must have been taken in the last 12 months

Prize T&C
- Prizes are as stated and no cash or other alternatives can be offered. There will be one winner and one runner up prize awarded.
- Prize value correct at time of going to press. Nikon has the right to substitute the prize for a similar item of equal or higher value if the stated prize is not available. No money can be added to the overall prize.
- The closing date for entries is September 14, 2011.
- Nikon shall not be liable for any failure to supply the prizes where such failure is caused by any supervening circumstances outside its control which amount to force majeure and which without the fault of either party renders performance impossible or incapable of satisfactory execution.
- Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the winner(s). If the winner(s) cannot be contacted, or are unable to comply with these terms and conditions, IPC reserves the right to offer the prize to the runner(s)-up selected by the same judges.
- Confirmation of the prize will also be made in writing to the winner(s).
- Failure to respond and/or provide an address for delivery, or failure to meet the eligibility requirements may result in forfeiture of the prize.
- Where applicable, the decision of the judges is final based on the criteria set out in the promotion and no correspondence will be entered into over this decision.
- Competitions may be modified or withdrawn at any time.
- The Promoter is IPC Media Limited (IPC) of Blue Fin Building, 110 Southwark Street, London SE1 0SU. The prize provider is Nikon UK Ltd.
- In the event of a discrepancy between these terms and conditions and the details in the promotional material, the details of the promotional material shall prevail.
- A list of winners will be available by writing to IPC at its address no earlier than six weeks (unless otherwise stated) after the close of the competition. Only the surname and country of the winners will be disclosed.

Copyright, Permissions and Complaints

By submitting images to this competition you confirm that for each image submitted:
- You alone are the author of your image and that it is your original work;
- You are the sole copyright holder;
- You have not licensed any rights in the image that conflict with the usage rights required by IPC;
- That it has not been a winning or shortlisted entry in any other competition; and
- You will be responsible for any claim made by any third party in respect of Your entry and to fully indemnify IPC and its sponsors in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person or entity by reason of Your breaching any of the foregoing.
- IPC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry that does not comply or which IPC has reason to believe does not comply with any of the above, even after the entry is submitted on the competition website.
- IPC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry in relation to which IPC receives a complaint.

Unacceptable Content

IPC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry:
- That contains threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libellous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content;
- That contains any material that could constitute or encourage conduct which would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any law.
- You agree to fully indemnify IPC and its sponsors in respect of all costs owing to any person or entity arising by reason of Your breaching any of the foregoing.

Your Copyright and Moral Rights:
- IPC respects photographers rights and does not claim copyright for images You submit to this competition, You will retain full copyright in each entry.
- In addition your moral rights are respected. Whenever Your image is published by IPC (and its partners) You will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition.

Use of Images

By entering this competition You agree that any winning or shortlisted image You submit may be used by IPC (and its partners) solely for marketing and promotional purposes of this competition or future versions of this competition and no other purpose, these uses include:
- judging the competition;
- displaying the entries on the competition website (and websites of partners);
- displaying the entries at public exhibitions to promote the competition;
- displaying the entries in a book, magazine or similar;
- publishing the entries on posters to promote the competition;
- publishing the entries on postcards to promote the competition;
- publishing the entries on a calendar to promote the competition;
- cropping and re-sizing the image as necessary to fit pre-defined formats to promote the competition;
- sub-licensing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the competition and any related exhibition; and
- inclusion within any materials promoting the competition or any exhibition of images from this competition organized by IPC.
- You hereby grant IPC a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence in each entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described in 6.1 above from the date of entry until 2 years following the date of announcement of the winners.
- You acknowledge Your responsibility for protecting your entry against image misuse by third parties, by for example, but not limited to embedded file name. IPC and its Partners can assume no responsibility and are not liable for any image misuse.
- Should any image uses beyond those needed to promote the competition arise You will be contacted and given the opportunity to negotiate any such usage with the parties concerned independently of the competition.
- These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales and any dispute in relation to them shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
