Outkast arrive at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards dressed as the Flower Pot Men crossed with Oompa-Loompas crossed with the Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street. Though the loudest dresser is normally André 3000, Big Boi wins this time with those absurd trousers.

In September 2003, OutKast released a double album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. It won the Grammy for Best Album in 2004.
In 2001 Outkast played The Ocean in Hackney. “We get the whole glitzy rap riot of electro-flecked breaks, faultless lyrical flows and glorious psychedelic sounds tonight, observed by a coterie of music and fashion faces, from Faithless to Lisa Roxanne to Lennox Lewis to the Pied Piper crew,” wrote our reviewer at the time.
With more style changes than Madonna and Lady Gaga, André goes for parachute pants and a Marilyn wig at a show in Long Island in 2001.
Outkast performed at the 2004 Brit Awards following nominations for Best International Album and Group. They were beaten by Justin Timberlake and The White Stripes.
Channelling the Emerald Kingdom combined with chimney sweeps and The Matrix, Outkast pictured in 2000. The duo formed back in 1992 in Georgia.
Outkast’s return after a six-year hiatus has set tongues wagging for possible live dates outside the US. The last album ‘Idlewild’ came out seven years ago but here’s hoping for more new music. Last year they both finally appeared together on a remix of Frank Ocean’s ‘Pink Matter’. Fingers crossed…
