The San Francisco trio opened with 'Hate The Taste' from this year's 'Specter At The Feast' and finished the set with aplomb, encoring with old faves 'Whatever Happened To My Rock'N'Roll (Punk Song)' and 'Spread Your Love'.

Frontman Robert Levon Been was delighted to be in the cosy, sheltered surroundings of the 100 Club: "This is a beautiful thing, playing here. We've been doing nothing but fucking summer festivals for the past few months but playing here, with a roof over our heads and so close to you guys, is the way it should be. Thank you, everyone."

After the encore, the fire alarm sounded - reportedly down to enthusiastic use of the onstage smoke machine - and the punters had to gather outside on the pavement. Levon Been stepped out too and played an acoustic version of 'The Weight Of The World' to round off the night.
