Grimes, the Canadian electro musician AKA Claire Boucher, is the cover star of ASOS Magazine’s Autumn issue in which she describes fashion as “a means of communication”. Alongside the photoshoot she also discussed how she sees her music career – read her best quotes.
On her future, she’s got no worries. She told ASOS: “I like to think that nothing is impossible. I don’t worry about the future. I know if I get dropped by my label, I’d still be able to make records, because I own all the equipment and I have all the skills. You physically can’t take it away from me.”
She attributes her success to luck: “I think for anyone who is successful in art, it’s 90% luck and chance…if you’re talented and you’re not getting anywhere, you shouldn’t feel bad, because it’s not just hard work and talent.”
She describes herself as a confident introvert: “I’m pretty shy and I hate parties. I mostly just prefer being at home and watching TV…I think you can be introverted and anti-social, but still be sure of yourself.”
Apart from the vocals from Janelle Monáe and Aristophanes, Grimes was responsible for everything you heard on 2015 album ‘Art Angels’, NME‘s Album of the Year. “I feel pretty proud of it,” she said. “The bigger the project the harder it is to maintain independence and control.”
