Harry Potter And The Cursed Child – the play set 19 years after J.K. Rowling’s final book, The Deathly Hallows – has just released 75,000 more tickets for 2018 dates. With these on-set photos, we get a closer look at one of the most talked about plays in history.
The RADA-trained Jamie Parker plays the grown-up Harry Potter, who in the play is sending his son, Albus, to Hogwarts for the first time.
In the play, Harry is a high-ranking Auror (like a sort of magical policeman), and Hermione (Noma Dumezweni) is the Minister for Magic. Lower down on the platform with them here are Draco Malfoy, Ron Weasley and Ginny Potter.
Looks like Harry’s had a bad dream in this shot – and Ginny’s using Lumos. The special effects in the show have been widely praised – Time Out has even gone so far as to say that “Jamie Harrison deserves his own special Olivier [Award] for his illusion work”.
Could that be Dumbledore talking to Harry from the picture frame?
In this scene, Harry’s son Albus is just off to Hogwarts for the first time – along with Hermione and Ron’s daughter Rose.
The sorting ceremony in Hogwarts’ Great Hall. Where’s the hat, though?
The set of the Palace Theatre on central London’s Cambridge Circus is huge and ambitious – but the five-star reviews from The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and The Stage prove it’s paid off.
