A week earlier, Courtney had taken punters by surprise by playing an gig at an east London coffee house at short notice. The impromtu set at Hayden Wylds Coffee and Records in Clapton saw her perform hits old and new, as well as covers of Leonard Cohen's 'Take This Longing' and Pearl Jam's 'Jeremy'.

With rumours circulating that Love could be about to reunite Hole, these UK shows have seen Courtney play a career-spanning set. Her 75 minute concert saw a rare outing of old track 'Rock Star', which she told the crowd she hadn't played 'in like, twenty years', as well as 'Doll Parts', 'Skinny Little Bitch' and 'Jennifer's Body'.

While recent solo single 'You Know My Name' received an airing, it was mostly about the hits. 'Celebrity Skin' attracted a huge response, as did an acoustic rendition of 'Northern Star', which saw her complain “I’m going to be f---ing cranky and hoarse tomorrow”

The tour continues until May 22, and is Love's way of easing British crowds back into her live perfomances, ready for festival season 2015. 'I didn't make up my mind to do the reunion until it was too late for festival season [this year]' she told NME before the gig, going on to admit Coachella 2015 is firmly on her dream to-do list. Despite telling fans at her tiny East London instore that she was planning on performing a cover of The Boomtown Rats 'I Don't Like Mondays' at Shepherds Bush in tribute to Peaches Geldof, Love only did one cover on the night: 'Gold Dust Woman' by Fleetwood Mac.

Courtney Love's stage entrance was suitably dramatic. To the tune of Orchestral piece 'Bolero' by Ravel, she arrived puffing on an e-cig, strutting theatrically across the stage as the sold-out crowd cheered and wolf whistled at her characteristically ripped black playsuit. "That's all you're getting, I'm 49," she quipped.

Love's tour will hopefully be the first of many over the next 18 months, and she told NME saw she plans to visit her 'second home' more often: "I feel most at home in the UK and can't wait to catch up on TOWIE." she said. "I grew up half a British citizen and I miss it."
