NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon – the winners

  • We're pleased to announce the winners of the NME Music Photography Awards with Nikon. Taking home the overall grand prize, as well as the top spot in the Portrait category is Layla Smethurst's shot of Matthew Whitehouse from The Heartbreaks, taken in Morecambe in March. The winning shots are on display at London's theprintspace gallery from Jan 6th - 11th.

  • The Portrait runner up is Jenny Hardcore, for her photograph of singer-songwriter Lupen Crook, taken in London in May 2011. You can view all of the finalists here.

  • Jonathan Hyde was highly commended in the Portrait category for his shot of Peggy Sue's Katy Young, taken in Seaford, East Sussex in March 2011.

  • The winner in the Live category is Andrew Ford for his snapshot of punk band Kasa's frontman Jacob Porter. This was captured during their show at The Studio Bar in Penzance, Cornwall in December 2010.

  • Braden Paul was the runner-up in the Live category for this picture of Sleigh Bells' Alexis Krauss, taken at Sasquatch Festival 2011.

  • The Reportage category winner was Mikey Hart. Here's a picture of Washington, the Best Female Artist and Best Breakthrough Artist at the 2010 ARIA Awards, getting ready for a performance in September 2010.

  • Runner-up for Reportage is Andrew Ford for his photograph of Cornish hardcore punk band Rasputin, taken at a houseparty show in Plymouth in July 2011.

  • We also opened up this competition to the Under 18s crowd - the winner in this category is Mikaela Rodriguez for her photograph of IDA May at the underground music festival Shed Rock 2011.

  • The runner-up in the Under 18s category is Nisha Desai, for this image of Muse performing at Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester in September 2010.

  • In the Professional category, we awarded David Baird with the top prize for this photograph of The Subways headlining the 2000 Trees Festival in Upcote Farm, Gloucestershire in July 2010.
