Unbelievably, this was the winning shot from the 14 and Under category. Wouter Loeve composed the pic, and impressed Pennie Smith. "Younger people can look at things with cleaner eyes" she remarked, adding "black and white suits me, as I've made a career out of it".

Rob Marrison took this interesting shot of a punter in a monkey hat at Latitude this year, scooping the top spot in the Reportage category. "It feels like the photographer and the subject are both asleep, or at least slowed down and thoughtful" Pennie Smith commented. "I like those moments where you're caught off-guard."

All three judges loved this shot, and Pennie Smith said: "It's the idiot friend shot. It was spontaneous and made me laugh. Nothing up to that point had really scored a gut reaction until this one".
