Oscars 2014: All The Best Photos Which Aren't Sherlock Photobombing U2

A special bumper-music edition of the Oscars took place in LA last night (March 2) with some of indie's biggest stars either up for awards or set to perform. One of the first on the red carpet was Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, who played with Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O during the ceremony. Nice tux, Ezra.

Karen O turned up in a sleek black dress, to the slight disappointment of Yeah Yeah Yeahs obsessives hoping she'd confuse the Academy by wearing a military outfit with a cake for a hat or something. You can't have it all, I guess.

Here's U2 on the red carpet, moments before getting photobombed by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch in what was truly a photobomb for the ages. Adam Clayton turned up dressed like a Monte Carlo casino Bond villain, so that was good.

30 Seconds To Mars' Jared Leto appeared in a whiter-than-white suit, eventually being named Best Supporting Actor for his turn in Dallas Buyers Club alongside Matthew McConaughey. Hopefully the Academy weren't serving spaghetti bolognese inside.

Best Original Song nominee Pharrell gave a predictably brilliant rendition of Despicable Me 2 track 'Happy', showcasing some killer dance moves, some infant backing dancers - they're probably cheaper to employ - and, of course, another amazing hat.

U2 later took to the stage to perform their track 'Ordinary Love' from the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom after an introduction speech from Brad Pitt. Not bad as support acts go.

Pink also played, performing Wizard of Oz classic 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'.

Jared Leto paid tribute to AIDS victims in his acceptance speech, also shouting out his brother and band mate Shannon Leto ("thank you so much for sharing this insane and amazing adventure that is 30 Seconds to Mars, and for being my best friend. I love you. Thank you").

Ezra Koenig and Karen O performed 'The Moon Song' from the Best Original Score-nominated soundtrack to Spize Jonze' 'Her'. Watching on in the crowd were Arcade Fire, who also contributed to the soundtrack, which lost out to 'Gravity'. Karen even kicked off her heels for the performance.

Finally, with the ceremony over and the coast clear, Jared Leto was able to enjoy some pizza courtesy of host Ellen DeGeneres, who ordered some during the ceremony for hungry guests, calling on producer Harvey Weinstein to pay the tip. "No pressure, only a billion people are watching, whatever you feel is right," she said.
