Lady GaGa appeared onstage at one point covered head to toe in diamonds. As she sat at a silver piano, she took the opportunity to pay tribute to the audience. "I live for nothing more than my fans, you guys are the fucking coolest fans on the planet," she said, before adding, "I always have pies, chips and mushy peas when I'm here..."

Paolo Nutini got a little help to get the crowd dancing at the during a sun-drenched set in Staffordshire. The Scottish crooner roped in a brass band to help out on four of the tracks he performed. The star played six tracks from his recent UK Number One album 'Sunny Side Up', alongside crowd favourite 'New Shoes' and one-off track 'Sleepwalking'.

Guy Garvey led Manchester multi-award-winners Elbow through a triumphant set on the V Stage. The band drew one of the largest main crowds as they began to round off the sensational live campaign for 'The Seldom Seen Kid' album that saw them become one of the largest bands in the UK. During the set Garvey declared that it was time for a "classic Elbow reverse Mexican wave".

To make-up for their absence, the group covered 'Wonderwall' and 'Champagne Supernova', with frontman Lightbody declaring: "The mighty Oasis should be here tonight!"
