Metronomy turned their hands towards ‘Fascination Street’ for our CD. The Dandy Warhols’ version of ‘Primary’ existed before our Cure covers campaign, but Robert Smith was keen we included it in the mix. Fast-rising Londoners The Big Pink have covered The Cure’s ‘Love Song’ from their eighth album Disintegration. The track (sometimes listed as ‘Lovesong’) has been covered by a multitude of bands including 311, Good Charlotte, A Perfect Circle, Death Cab For Cutie and ‘American Idol’ runner up Blake Lewis.
Dinosaur Jr’s rendition of ‘Just Like Heaven’ was a particular favourite of Robert Smith’s, and makes the cut on his insistence (although we love it too). Marmaduke Duke – aka Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro and Sucioperro’s JP Reid – have turned their hands towards The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’ for this week’s free covermount. The track was the second single from their ninth studio album ‘Wish’, and most recently popped up in the film ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’.
