The band have already revealed headline slots at the 2011 Wireless Festival and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival, which will mark their first live appearance together (with all original members) as a band in over fourteen years.

Since the band split up in 2002, frontman Jarvis Cocker worked on several side projects, including Relaxed Muscle (with Jason Buckle), released two solo albums and produced a number of tracks for other artists.

During the band’s hiatus, Cocker also appeared in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire alongside Phil Selway, Jonny Greenwood, Steve Mackey, Jason Buckle and Steven Claydon - all of whom cameoed as the members of fictional band the Weird Sisters.

In October 2009, Cocker told Teletext that he could “categorically” reveal that Pulp “have no plans to get back together," despite rumours that they were set to play at that year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Wireless promoter Steve Homer from Live Nation said of the reunion: “Wireless has a long tradition of pulling off extraordinary coups and next year is no exception, we’re delighted to be welcoming Pulp to headline in 2011, this is guaranteed to be a must-see event.”

If you head to Pulp’s official website, you’ll find a barrage of flashing questions about the reunion, such as: “Is this too freaky?”, “Is this a dream come true?”, “Is this someone’s idea of a joke?” and “I’ll tell you what…Let’s find out, shall we?”.

In 2009, Cocker also received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Sheffield Hallam University. Cocker and co. had their big break in 1981 (when it was called Sheffield Polytechnic), after their demo tape was given to John Peel, who invited them to record a BBC Radio 1 session.
