After The Strokes kicked off their return last week at London's small Dingwalls venue, they played headline sets at Isle of Wight (June 12) and Rockness (June 13) festivals. Their first festival appearances in four years, Casblancas told the crowd at Isle of Wight: "So yeah, we're fucking playing again, doing this shit for you. We fucking love you."

A video has surfaced online of Slash getting tackled onstage during his 'Sweet Child o' Mine' guitar solo. The incident, which took place in Milan, Italy last Thursday (June 10), left him uninjured – however, his guitar was damaged. Slash said: "Rowdy crowd for sure, but amazing. The guy who nailed me didn't take me down but he busted my poor guitar. Ah well, it was a kick ass rock show."

The Klaxons have announce new album details for 'Surfing The Void', set for release on August 23. The follow-up to their 2007 debut 'Myths Of The Near Future', the album will feature 10 new songs and will be preceded by a single, 'Echoes', released on August 16.

Brandon Flowers streamed his first solo single 'Crossfire' Monday night (Jun 14) on his official website. Taken from his debut solo album 'Flamingo', the single will be available in September. Flowers told NME that some of the songs on the record were originally intended for the next Killers album, but when the other members wanted to take a break from the band, Flowers decided to go solo.

Using a blood sample, US company Knome will research his genome (mapped at the cost of £27,000) for three months.
