  • After leaving Stereophonics in 2003, Cable found work as a media personality, hosting his own TV show, Cable Connects, and his own radio show on BBC Radio Wales.

  • Having grown up in the same Welsh village as his bandmates, Cable drummed on the band's first four albums, before being replaced by Argentinian-born Javier Weyler.

  • His mother Mabel, 79, said: "Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly. He is now settled down and then this has happens. It has not sunk in yet."

  • In his autobiography, published in 2009, Cable admitted to having had a cocaine problem, but said he was now clean. "When we went on tour coke was never far behind for me," he wrote in Demons And Cocktails. "Once a show was over I turned into some kind of coke-taking zombie."
