Arctic Monkeys headlined the final night of T in the Park last night (July 13), bringing to a close a thrilling weekend of music at the Scottish festival. One of the standout moments in Alex Turner and co's set was seeing them restart the first song of their encore to clash with Disclosure’s set on the Radio One stage.

Emerging on his own after the main body of the band's set, frontman Alex Turner went to start an acoustic rendition of 'A Certain Romance' but briefly stopped because the sound of Disclosure’s simultaneous headline show was so audible. "I might as well play to the rhythm of them," said Turner, restarting a singalong version of the track and pumping his fist to the Lawrence brothers' beats.

Earlier in the set, the band emerged dressed in black with the 'AM' sound waves lit up behind them for their 90-minute headline. Kicking off with now-customary set opener 'Do I Wanna Know?', the group continued with two more tracks from their current release – 'Snap Out Of It' and 'Arabella' before going into their back catalogue for 'Brianstorm' and 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair'.

Turner told me the crowd, "They’ve told me it’s the last time they're gonna do this in this enclosure so we're gonna do it right". This was a reference to the fact that next year, T in the Park will move from its current location in Kinross-shire’s Balado Park to Strathallan Castle in Perthshire. They then continued with old track 'Dancing Shoes' as well as 'Crying Lightning' and 'My Propeller'.

Turner later joked, "I had a dream about you last night, T in the Park. In the dream I told you that I had a dream about you and then this happened," before launching into a rousing 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor'.

Continuing with an acoustic 'No. 1 Party Anthem' and 'She's Thunderstorms', Turner dedicated 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' to "that booty call you probably can’t make tonight because you don't have any signal" before finishing with 'Fluorescent Adolescent' and '505'.

Other bands playing across the weekend included Chvrches, Tame Impala and Franz Ferdinand, whose King Tut's Wah Wah Hut stage set won one of the wildest crowds of the weekend. Repeatedly referencing being in Scotland, singer Alex Kapranos went on to change the lyrics to 'Do You Wanna' to mention Balado Park, while debut single 'Take Me Out' sparked a huge singalong.

With a stage decked out with giant gold trees and golden amps, Biffy Clyro emerged for their Friday night headline slot to a Scottish version of the Haka chant. We are Biffy fucking Clyro and we've been waiting a long time for this," Simon Neil told the crowd during their greatest hits set.

Calvin Harris was joined onstage during his set by none other than Will Smith. "I said to Calvin Harris, I have two weeks free and I want an experience," began Smith. "Calvin said, 'Come home with me, come to Scotland… Ladies and gentlemen – Scotland's own Calvin Harris!"

Elbow played a surprisingly poorly attended headline set on the Radio One stage, as the majority of the crowd flocked to Calvin Harris' main stage slot. Despite the minimal attendance, however, singer Guy Garvey was in high spirits, praising "Scotland the brave" for sticking it through the day's constant rain.

The Pixies were in imperious form as ever as they took to the King Tuts stage on Friday. The last time they were at T, in 2004, they recieved the longest ovation in the festival's history, according to organisers. The one they recieved on Friday couldn't have been too far off.
