The Strokes played their first festival show since 2011 this past weekend (June 7), as they laid waste at the Governors Ball on Randall's Island in New York. And how time has changed, eh? Julian had performed at the festival on the previous day with his solo band The Voidz, and had some exciting news for fans: he reportedly said his new solo album was due out in September.

But it was The Strokes themselves everyone was there to see, and they delivered a career-spanning set including tracks from each of their five studio albums – although unfortunately for this fan, 'Meet Me In The Bathroom' wasn't on the setlist.

The band opened their set with 'Barely Legal' from their 2001 debut album 'Is This It', but then went on to perform a host of tracks from last year's 'Comedown Machine' - which they did not tour at the time - including 'Welcome To Japan', 'One Way Trigger' and 'Happy Ending'.

Speaking recently, guitarist Albert Hammond Jr said: "I know that when The Strokes tour again, it will be because we put something out – even though we didn't tour the last one."

He added: "Doing a few festivals before you put something out is kind of gearing up the big machine, it just kind of helps everyone get ready, mentally, financially and it brings you back to your audience.
