  • Liam Gallagher has taken a pot shot at Mumford and Sons by saying they look like "they've got fucking nits". The Beady Eye frontman was talking to Q magazine when he took aim at the multi-award winning folk-rock band. "Everyone looks like they've got fucking nits and eat lentil soup with their sleeves rolled up. They all look like they live on the heath. Maybe that's where they record."

  • Lostprophets singer, Ian Watkins, reappeared before court on December 31 on alleged child sex offence charges, including conspiracy to rape a one-year-old girl. The 35-year-old appeared via video link at Cardiff Crown Court from Parc Prison, Bridgend.

  • Noel Gallagher has claimed that God is likely to be a fan of Oasis. Explaining to The Sun how he will convince St Peter to let him in when he reaches the pearly gates, Gallagher said: “I’d say, ‘You’ve heard 'Don’t Look Back In Anger'?’, and they’d say, ‘Of course’. I’d say, ‘Look it’s me, let us in. I can play you a tune. I robbed some stuff, I took a lot of drugs, but I’m all right’.”

  • Foo Fighters man Dave Grohl will debut a new supergroup, named Sound City Players, at this year's Sundance Film Festival, reports Rolling Stone. The show, due to take place on January 18, will see Grohl take to the stage with guests and musicians featured in his documentary on the now-closed Sound City recording studios in Van Nuys, California.

  • London's Olympic Stadium in Stratford, east London, is set to reopen in July 2013 with a series of rock concerts, according to BBC News. Though final contracts are yet to be signed, the plan is for some events traditionally held at Hyde Park to relocate to the stadium.

  • Jay-Z joined Coldplay on stage on New Year's Eve, shortly before racking up a £250,000 bar bill welcoming in 2013. The rapper and business mogul rapped alongside his friend Chris Martin at the band's 'Holiday Party' at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn. The venue is the home of the Brooklyn Nets, the basketball team owned by Jay-Z.

  • The Cribs' Ryan Jarman has said he doesn't think Nirvana would get signed if they were starting out today. The guitarist believes that underground bands starting out in 2012 don't have the same opportunities as groups did in the past, and he blames people's short-attention span for the change.

  • man who won £1million on the National Lottery over Christmas has revealed his plan to open a music venue with his winnings. Andrew Garth, who lives in Middlesbrough and works as a freelance light and sound events technician, became a millionaire on Christmas Day (December 25) after winning the money on the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle.

  • A man has been killed while attempting to take pictures of Justin Bieber. The unnamed man, believed to be a paparazzo, received fatal injuries after being run over on the side of Sepulveda Boulevard near Getty Center Drive. It is believed the man was taking pictures of Bieber's white Ferrari though the teen pop star was not in the vehicle at the time.

  • Guns N' Roses guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal has said that his one piece of advice for new bands is "be on time". The tip may come as something of a surprise to anyone who has seen Guns N' Roses live in recent years, as the band regularly arrive on stage hours later than scheduled. However, Bumblefoot says that only "massive goobers" make a habit of not being on time.

  • Blur have announced plans to headline the Sziget festival in Hungary next year. The Britpop icons, who reformed this year for a string of intimate UK live dates culminating in a massive show in Hyde Park to celebrate the closing of the London 2012 Olympic Games, will appear at the bash, which takes place from August 5-12, 2013.

  • Bobby Womack has revealed he's suffering from brain disorder Alzheimer’s. The 68-year-old, who released his first single in 1954, has admitted he struggles to recall the names of his songs and those of his collaborators. He said: “The doctor says there are signs of Alzheimer’s. It’s not bad yet but will get worse."

  • Miles Kane has unveiled his new single 'Give Up'. The track, co-written with Kid Harpoon and produced by The Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie (The Zutons, Echo And The Bunnymen), is taken from Miles’s second album, due for release later this year. It's the follow-up to his 2011 debut 'Colour Of The Trap', which featured singles 'Rearrange' and 'Come Closer'.

  • Daft Punk are reportedly not planning to tour or play live at all in 2013, according to Bestival organiser Rob Da Bank. The French duo have been linked to headline slots at both Glastonbury and Coachella by fans eager to see their live show. However, speaking to eFestivals, Rob Da Bank stated that he was told through official channels that Daft Punk will not be appearing live at all this year.

  • Take That singer Gary Barlow's record label has been closed down after reportedly losing £4 million. Barlow announced at the weekend (December 29) that he was calling time on Future Records in order to spend more time with his family, however, the Daily Record reports the label was shut down because of a £4 million loss.
