The xx have won the Mercury Prize - on the strength of their self-titled debut album. Favourites in the run-up to the event, their acceptance speech was suitably minimalist, with bass player Oliver Simm saying their victory felt "incredible". Earlier in the evening, the trio had performed the song 'Night Time' at the ceremony, which took place at London's Grosvenor House, Tuesday September 7.
