Trent Reznor has said Nine Inch Nails’ 2009 gigs will be their last "for the foreseeable future". He said: "The shows we have announced in 2009, and any more that may be announced, will be a completely different approach with some different personnel, and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future."

PJ Harvey has announced that her next album will be called ‘A Woman A Man Walked By’. The album, out on March 30, 2009, is a collaboration with John Parish, and their first full album together since 1996’s ‘Dance Hall At Louse Point’. Blur have announced that they will play a second show at London’s Hyde Park next summer. The newly-reformed band will play on July 2 as well as their previously-announced date on July 3, which sold out this morning (December 12). Tickets are on sale now from seetickets.com.

T in the Park Festival – Scotland

Pete Doherty has been announced as the support act for cockney duo Chas & Dave at a gig this December. Doherty, who has long admired the group, is set to join them at the Tap ‘N’ Tin in Chatham, Kent, on December 20.

Britney Spears performs on ‘Good Morning America’ – New York

Britney Spears’ new album ‘Circus’ debuted at Number One in the US this week, after selling 505,000 copies in its first week of release. The figures make Spears the only artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have four albums sell 500,000 copies or more in their first week, reports Reuters.

Robbie Williams has said that he would "love" to re-join Take That. The singer’s statement comes shortly after former bandmate Gary Barlow said that it was only a matter of time before Williams re-joined the fold. "I’d love to be in the band again," he wrote on his blog at Robbiewilliams.com, "but I’ve got some unfinished business of my own."

Radio One Roadshow – Mark Morrison

Mark Morrison has attacked his home city of Leicester for showing him "nothing but contempt". Morrison told The Leicester Mercury he would never return to the city. "I showed Leicester the love and that city never showed me the love back. That place has shown me nothing but contempt," he declared. "Believe it, baby, I ain’t never, ever, ever going back to Leicester."

Florence and the Machine

Florence And The Machine have been announced as the Critics’ Choice Award for the BRIT Awards 2009. The accolade was won by Adele in 2008.

Florence Welch and co, who play the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour next January along with Glasvegas, Friendly Fires and White Lies, beat off competition from Little Boots and White Lies, who were second and third, respectively.

Style: “arcade fire shot3”

Arcade Fire will release their new 70-minute documentary, ‘Miroir Noir’, on Monday (December 15). The film features live footage of the group and also follows them during the recording of their second album ‘Neon Bible’.

The film documents the band through the making of their 2007 album ‘Neon Bible’ and subsequent tours. It also includes short films made on the road by the band.

The Flaming Lips have been confirmed to curate the final day of All Tomorrow’s Parties New York, taking place in September 2009. The festival has already announced that Friday (September 11) will be a ‘Don’t Look Back’ and comedy day, with Dirty Three performing ‘Ocean Songs’ and Suicide performing their 1977 first self-titled LP. A comedy line-up is being curated by David Cross.

RAPPER ARRESTED

DMX was finally arrested on Tuesday (December 9) after a warrant was issued for him following a missed court appearance. The rapper, real name Earl Simmons, was taken into custody in Miami and will now be taken to Phoenix, Arizona, where he faces charges of drug possession, identity theft and animal cruelty.

Former Velvet Underground member John Cale has been appointed to represent Wales at a major contemporary art exhibition next year. Cale, who is from Garnant, south Wales, said he feels "honoured" to be asked to produce a new audio-visual work for the Venice Biennale Of Art, which takes place from June 7 to November 22 next year.

AC/DC have announced that they will play two further UK arena shows on the 2009 jaunt. The rockers will play at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 26) and Glasgow Hampden Park (30) following their previously announced UK and Irish dates in April. Tickets for the newly-announced shows go on sale on Wednesday (December 17) at 10am (GMT).

Supergrass are to release music on their own label, Supergrass Records, in the future, after parting company with EMI. The Oxford group have also made their bassist, Mickey Quinn, their ‘managing director’.

Mogwai have re-opened their feud with Blur following the news that the band are reforming. Their website says: "It seeeeeems as if the seminal britpop band called Blur want to get back together again to make astounding new music. This could have catastrophic effects on our youth and middle-aged citizens. As the world’s 4th biggest economy, Blur’s surprise reunion could have destabilizing ramifications which are too legion to be properly explained here."
