BRITAIN TAKE THAT

Take That have written a new song, ‘How Did It Come To This’, which fans are speculating is about the plight of Amy Winehouse. The song, set to feature on the band’s new album, ‘The Circus’, features lyrics that seem to allude to the life of the troubled singer, described as "a girl in Camden Town".

2008 MTV Video Music Awards Insider

Singer Ashlee Simpson has given birth to a baby boy, which she and her husband, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, have named Bronx Mowgli. The baby weighs 7lbs 11oz (3.5kg) and is 20.5 inches long.

Foo Fighters, Mariah Carey, BB King, Celine Dion and John Mayer are among the artists set to perform at the first-ever Grammy Nominations Concert. The event is scheduled to take place on December 3 at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast on CBS television that night.

Crystal Castles, My Morning Jacket, Blonde Redhead and Patti Smith are among the acts who will perform shows in New York City on New Year’s Eve this year. A Place to Bury Strangers recently announced an intimate show at Mercury Lounge that night, while across the water in New Jersey, Yo La Tengo will headline the new venue Wellmont Theatre. Crystal Castles will ring in 2009 at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, while Blonde Redhead will take over Terminal 5 in midtown.

Tom Jones Busking – London

Tom Jones pulled a huge crowd when he busked in front of the Royal Festival Hall in London this week (November 19). Sporting shades, a blue coat and a pair of black flares the singer performed a mix of rock ‘n’ roll songs and his own tracks flanked by an acoustic guitarist throughout. He played both ‘It’s Not Unusual’ and ‘Great Balls Of Fire’ twice.

Orbital Glastonbury 2004

Orbital have reformed after five years and will headline the Big Chill 2009. The dance duo, whose split after their last gig headlining the Other Stage at Glastonbury in 2004, will head up the line-up for the Eastnor, Herefordshire bash, which will take place on August 7, 8 and 9 next summer.

GLASVEGAS FOR NME COVER FEATURE

Glasvegas were surrounded by police officers wielding guns this week (November 21) in Munich after their tourbus sparked a security false alarm.

The band’s spokesperson has told NME.COM that at around lunchtime their tour bus pulled up in the centre of town, only for a troupe of gun-wielding policemen to board the bus and search the band members.
The band were in the German city in preparation for a gig at the Atomic Café venue.
