The Slits’ Ari Up died aged 48. News of her death was confirmed by the Sex Pistols and PiL frontman John Lydon, who is married to Forster’s mother. He delivered the news about her death on his website. “John [Lydon] and Nora [Forster] have asked us to let everyone know that Nora’s daughter Arianna – aka Ari-Up – died today (October 20) after a serious illness,” was posted on JohnLydon.com.

U2 frontman Bono has revealed that Danger Mouse is working on their forthcoming album. The record, which is tentatively titled ‘Songs Of Ascent’ and is due out next year according to the band’s manager Paul McGuinness , has been produced by the Gnarls Barkley and Broken Bells man, otherwise known as Brian Burton.

Kanye West has had his new album cover “banned” – and joked it was unfair as his was a painting of a naked monster while Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ is allowed to feature a nude baby. Revealing the image via Twitter, the rapper-producer posted up a link to the the proposed cover of ‘My Dark Twisted Fantasy’ for fans to see.

The View have announced details of an enormous comeback UK tour. The band, set to release their third album in spring next year, will hit the road from mid-November through to December 18, when the dates end in their native Scotland’s town of Dunfermline.

Paul Weller has said that his next album will contain some “avant-garde moments”, although he’s not certain if stand-in drummer Noel Gallagher will make the cut. The singer-songwriter, who features in this year’s NME Cool List, explained that he is pausing from recording to tour, but he should have a follow-up to this year’s ‘Wake Up The Nation’ out early next year.

Oasis’ founder member and former drummer Tony McCarroll has said he feels he is going up against a “global brand” by releasing a book levelling criticism at Noel Gallagher. McCarroll has written about his time in the band in new book Oasis: The Truth, and in it he recounts countless arguments with Gallagher until the songwriter had him sacked in 1995.

Eminem and Tinie Tempah were winners at this year’s MOBO Awards ceremony this week (October 20). The rapper picked up Best International Act at the event at Liverpool Echo Arena while Tempah picked up two awards – Best Newcomer and Best Video for ‘Frisky’.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith has said that the band are “halfway through” finishing their new album. The as-yet untitled studio effort will be the follow-up to 2006’s ‘Stadium Arcadium’, and is being produced by Rick Rubin.

Pete Doherty is launching a jewellery line in collaboration with British jeweller Hannah Martin named Albion Trinketry. The range features 15 items including cufflinks, rings, pins, neck and watch chains.

Kings Of Leon look set to score the fastest-selling album of 2010 with their new effort ‘Come Around Sundown’. According to the official midweek chart the album, which was released on Monday, is heading straight to Number One. Eminem’s ‘Recovery’ is the only album to have sold more copies in a single week so far this year.

Keith Richards has labelled his Rolling Stones bandmate Mick Jagger “unbearable”. Richards, who is currently promoting his autobiography ‘Life’, was describing his friendship with Jagger to The Times when he made the admission that he and Jagger don’t get on. He added that he has taken to calling the singer “Brenda” and “Your Majesty” as a joke.

Music – Glastonbury Festival 2002 – Stereophonics

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable choked to death on his own vomit following a three-day drinking binge, an inquest has confirmed. A verdict of accidental death was recorded at an inquest in his hometown Aberdare (October 19) just months after the drummer was found dead on his kitchen floor in nearby Llwydcoed by his girlfriend Rachel Jones.
