  • Ray J has goaded Kanye West in a song about Kim Kardashian, titled 'I Hit It First'. The R&B singer infamously filmed a sex tape with Kardashian in 2007, prior to the reality star's worldwide fame. The cover art, which was posted on Twitter by Ray J, is reportedly a blurred out image of the reality star in a bikini.

  • Liam Gallagher has admitted that a new Beady Eye song is about Noel Gallagher and that it features a couple of digs at his brother and former Oasis bandmate. The song, titled 'Don't Brother Me', will feature on the new album 'BE', details of which were confirmed on Wednesday (April 10).

  • The first images of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop in new film CBGB have been revealed online. The film tells the story of the iconic New York venue and will be released later this year. The picture shows Hawkins' Iggy Pop stood next to Debbie Harry, who is played by actress Malin Akerman. The strapline for the film reads: "50,000 bands. One disgusting bathroom."

  • Noel Gallagher has reportedly been approached with an offer to become a judge on the next series of The X Factor. The Sun reports that his management company Ignition last week received an offer of £2m per series should the former Oasis guitarist sign up.

  • Babyshambles performed a new song in Paris this weekend, playing a gig with their new drummer Adam Falkner. A picture of the drummer with Pete Doherty and guitarist Mik Whitnall was posted on McConnell's Instagram page on April 6, showing the band on the streets of Paris. The band then played new song 'Dr No (Sharks In The Water)' at the La Fontaine venue on Saturday night (April 6).

  • Queens Of The Stone Age will release their forthcoming new album '…Like Clockwork' on June 3. The band premiered the studio version of the album's first single 'My God Is The Sun' on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show on Monday (April 8). Speaking about the album, Joshua Homme told Lowe: "I feel like a weight made of monkeys has lifted off my shoulders."

  • The music world has reacted with a mixture of jubilation and commiseration following the death of Baroness Thatcher on Monday (April 8). The death of the former prime minister, who was in charge of the country between 1979 and 1990, led to a huge surge in activity on the social network, with supporters keen to pay tribute and her detractors delighted at the news of her death.

  • A woman has been arrested in America after assaulting her boyfriend when he refused to stop singing the Macklemore song 'Thrift Shop'. Samantha Malson reportedly pushed and choked her boyfriend, Lars Hansen, after he sang the song, a Number One hit in the UK and US in 2013, 25 times in a row.

  • Beady Eye have announced details of their brand new album, which will be titled 'BE'. Over the weekend the first track from the album, titled 'Flick Of The Finger’, premiered on US radio station – scroll down to listen to it. Recorded in London with super-producer Dave Sitek, 'BE' sees the band experiment with cassette tapes, samplers, and iPhone apps.

  • Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has spoken about working with Foo Fighters man Dave Grohl on his band's forthcoming new album '…Like Clockwork'. Speaking to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, Homme said of Grohl, who drums on the album: "I have a special relationship with Dave. I've known him since I was 19. He makes something good, great. If something's mediocre he makes it great."

  • Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding was reportedly arrested last Thursday (April 4) for using her mobile phone while driving and failing to stop for police. According to the Sunday Mirror, the singer was spotted talking on her phone while driving along Charing Cross Road in London and allegedly refused to pull over when police flagged her down.

  • James Blake has said that he doesn't care if people illegally download his new album for free. The singer, whose second album 'Overgrown' was released on Monday (April 8), says he accepts digital piracy as an everyday fact of life and doesn't bemoan anyone taking advantage of torrent sites to download his music.

  • A Facebook campaign to make 'Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead' Number One in the Official UK Singles Chart has been set up following the death of Margaret Thatcher. The song was written by EY Harburg and composed by Harold Arlen and originally featured in the 1939 film The Wizard Of Oz where it was sung by the Munchkins.

  • The Rolling Stones have confirmed that they will play a second date at London's Hyde Park in July. The rock legends will now perform at the central London location as part of the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time festival on July 13 in addition to the previously announced date on July 6.

  • Paramore's Hayley Williams has said that she doesn't feel the need to write songs about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. The singer says that she doesn't try and "be cool" by swearing in songs or attempting to appeal to an older audience with references to drugs and sex. Instead, she says she prefers talking about "normal life problems".

  • The Official Charts Company reports that the billionth single download was sold late on Monday (April 8), nine years after legal song downloads were launched in the UK. Since 2004, sales of singles downloads have increased from 500,000 a week to more than three million a week. The most downloaded single of all-time is Adele's 'Someone Like You'.

  • Kate Bush received a CBE for services to music from the Queen on Wednesday (April 10) at a ceremony at Windsor Castle and issued the following statement: "I feel incredibly thrilled to receive this honour which I share with my family, friends and fellow musicians and everybody who has been such an important part of it all. Now I've got something special to put on top of the Christmas tree."

  • Nick Valensi of The Strokes is collaborating with Brody Dalle on her forthcoming solo record. The former frontwoman of The Distillers and Spinnerette has been recording her first solo album in California and recently posted a picture of Valensi on Instagram and thanked him for his playing, writing "Thank you Nicky Valensi for the radass guitar".

  • Kasabian's Tom Meighan has spoken about the band's progress on their new album by claiming it sounds as if it's been "electrocuted". Speaking to MTV, the singer confirmed that they have started work on their fifth studio LP and said, "It's like The Prodigy's dirty remix thing. It's cool and it's got really heavy drums - it sounds electrocuted."
