  • Celebrity journalist Liza Ghorbani has been revealed as the mother of the alleged 'secret love child' of Beady Eye singer Liam Gallagher. The New York Post has claimed that Ghorbani had a fling with the singer after she interviewed him for the New York Times in 2010 and subsequently gave birth to a daughter, Emma, in January of this year.

  • The Strokes frontman Julian is mourning the passing of his father John Casablancas, who has died aged 70. John Casablancas was a legendary figure in the modelling industry. He co-founded the Elite Model Management agency in Paris in 1972 and steered it towards annual bookings in excess of $100 million (£65 million) during his years in charge.

  • Richard Ashcroft has said that he is not interested in reforming The Verve and headlining festivals with the band while new groups are being denied the same slots. Ashcroft spoke to BBC 6Music's Lauren Laverne earlier this month and was quizzed on the possibility of fans seeing The Verve play again and if they were playing together at all.

  • A misguided Nirvana fan has written to Sub Pop requesting that the band record a video message for a university in Virginia. Despite Nirvana being inactive since 1994 – and the small matter of frontman Kurt Cobain having died the same year – the unnamed fan wrote to Sub Pop in a letter revealed by the indie label on Tumblr on Wednesday (July 24).

  • Florence And The Machine frontwoman Florence Welch recently covered Daft Punk's hit single 'Get Lucky' at a bar in south London. Welch gave an impromptu performance of the track last Friday night (July 19) with function band Sourberry during their annual party at South London Pacific.

  • Beady Eye have revealed their new video for 'Shine A Light', which includes scenes involving Liam Gallagher surrounded by naked women. The promo for the song features clips of the band performing live cut with scenes of Gallagher wearing sunglasses and laying down among the group of women.

  • Arctic Monkeys have revealed the artwork to their new album 'AM'. The artwork was posted on Twitter by the band on 14 July along with a message which reads: "Here's the artwork for 'AM', released on 9th Sept 2013." The minimal design is in keeping with the animated video and artwork for the album's lead single 'Do I Wanna Know?'.

  • The new trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is now online after premiering at San Diego Comic-Con on 20 July. Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Lenny Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright and Willow Shields all appeared at the Comic-Con panel for the eagerly-anticipated sequel, joined by director Francis Lawrence.

  • Paul McCartney was joined by the three surviving members of Nirvana at his gig in Seattle on 19 July. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear came on stage during his encore to play 'Cut Me Some Slack', the track they recorded together last year for Grohl's Sound City film project, and a selection of Beatles classics.

  • Wiley has hit out at Cumbria's Cockrock festival and those attending the event, labelling them "pagans", after he was booed off stage last weekend (July 20). The grime MC was booked to perform at the festival on Saturday alongside acts such as The Cribs and Reverend and The Makers.

  • Beyonce soldiered through a gig in Montreal last night (July 22) after her hair got tangled in the blades of a fan. The singer, who was playing the city's Bell Centre as part of her Mrs Carter world tour, was performing her track 'Halo' from an audience pit when her hair got stuck in a fan.

  • Organisers of Cumbria's Cockrock Festival are to seek legal advice after Wiley performed for just 15 of the 45 minutes he was due to play at the event last weekend. The grime MC criticised the Cockermouth festival and those attending the event, labelling them "pagans", after he was booed off stage last weekend (July 20).

  • Miley Cyrus has admitted to singing about MDMA in her current single 'We Can't Stop'. The pop star has confirmed that the song contains the lyric "dancing with Molly", which is US slang for the drug. A representative for the song's producer Mike WiLL Made It formerly stated that the lyric was "dancing with Miley", but in a new interview the singer has set the record straight.

  • MGMT have unveiled the artwork for their forthcoming new album, 'MGMT'. It sees the band's two members outside a hairdresser/clothes shop. The New York duo, Andrew Van Wyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, will release 'MGMT' on September 16 and recently spoke to NME about the follow-up to 2010's 'Congratulations'.

  • Robin Thicke has defended his controversial 'Blurred Lines' video, comparing it to the work of Benny Hill, the late British comedian known for his saucy postcard humour. Discussing the notorious video, whose explicit version features an array of topless female models, some holding farm animals, Thicke told The Times that he "wanted to make a Benny Hill-type video, something fun".
