  • Blur have announced the title for the brand new song they have recorded for Record Store Day on Saturday (April 17). The band have named the song as 'Fool's Day', the first track all four members have recorded together since 'Think Tank' album track 'Battery In Your Leg', released in 2003.

  • Karen Elson is set to play a short acoustic gig at London pub the Slaughtered Lamb on Monday (April 19). A limited number of £5 tickets to the gig will be available on the door, which opens at 7:30pm (BST).

  • The Cribs have been forced to pull out of their appearance at this weekend's Coachella festival because they can't get a flight out of the UK in time for the California event. The band were due to play the festival on Friday (April 16), but have been caught up in the nationwide flight delays due to volcanic ash drifting over Europe from Iceland.

  • Snoop Dogg, Slash, and Wiley are among the acts newly-added to the Wireless Festival line-up for 2010. Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Roll Deep, Tala Riley, Chiddy Bang and McLean have also been added to the bill. The events take place in London's Hyde Park on July 2-4.

  • Peter Hook has revealed details of his forthcoming tribute night for his late Joy Division bandmate Ian Curtis. The bass player will perform Joy Division's classic 1979 album 'Unknown Pleasures' in full at the show, which will take place at Manchester's FAC251 club. The club is on the site of the former offices of Factory Records – Joy Division's label.

  • Eminem has announced the release date for his new album 'Recovery'. The album will be out on June 21, and features collaborations with DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da.

  • Outkast are working on new material for the first time in nearly four years. The duo are working on a new album, their first since the soundtrack album 'Idlewild'.

  • Scissor Sisters have announced details of their new album 'Night Work'. The New York band's third album, and follow up to 2006's 'Ta-Dah', will be released on June 28, and is preceded by single 'Fire With Fire' on June 20.

  • The Drums said they have decided to include their single 'Let's Go Surfing' on their forthcoming debut album – after initially planning to leave it off the tracklisting. The fast-rising band originally wanted to omit the fan favourite from the record, which will be self-titled and is released on June 7.

  • Glastonbury festival organisers have announced the line-up for this year's event. Taking place at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset between June 25-27, the festival is celebrating its 40th year with Stevie Wonder, Muse and U2 headlining.

  • The Cribs' Ryan Jarman's cover of Kate Nash's song 'Do Wah Doo' has leaked onto the internet. The song, a B-side on the CD release of Nash's single, released on Monday (April 12), features Jarman playing guitar and singing accompanied by an accordion.

  • A drama inspired by the last days of The Doors frontman Jim Morrison is set to be made. The Last Beat - written and set to be directed by indie director Robert Saitzyk - is to follow the path of Gus Van Sant's Kurt Cobain-inspired Last Days in circumventing legal issues by only basing the lead character on The Doors frontman.

  • MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden has said that he's not interested in indulging in the soon-to-be-banned drug mephedrone. Although the band are open about past drug experiences including playing gigs under the influence, the musician told Shortlist that he feared the drug may have negative physical effects yet to be understood.

  • Courtney Love has said Twilight star Robert Pattinson would be a "stupid" choice to play Kurt Cobain in a possible biopic. It was claimed last week that the Twilight actor was the leading candidate to play the Nirvana frontman, and had the blessing of Love. Scarlett Johansson was also said to be lined up to play her.
