Wow. We've been to some house parties in our time, but the adidas House Party gig exclusive to JD with NME Radio in Manchester was on a whole new level. Held at the city's legendary Moho venue on June 2 to celebrate 60 years of Soles and Stripes - six decades of adidas clothing rock stars and sports stars alike - it was one monumental rave-up.
First up, local newcomers Lost Knives took to the stage on what was the hottest day of the year so far. They immediately sent the mercury rising as hundreds of locals surged forward for their frenetic pounding opening set, an amazingly accomplished affair considering they only played their debut gig two months before.
Next up, NME favourites Twisted Wheel notched it up a degree or two for a high-octane half-hour that included a call-and-response rendition of 'Let Them Have It All', leaving the place a completely euphoric sweat bomb.It was a hard act to follow, but one that The View took in their tight-jeaned stride. The temperature and atmosphere peaked as huge moshpits formed for the likes of 'Superstar Tradesmen' and '5 Rebecca's', leaving girls near the front fanning Kyle in an ultimately impossible bid to cool him down.
The anarchy continued at the final house party gig exclusively at the JD Arndale, Manchester. The lucky winners were treated to an intimate gig from Twisted Wheel and Lost Knives, who - considering they were still recovering from the night before - put on a pretty impressive show. This was the culmination of the London and Manchester adidas House Party gigs exclusive to JD.
