3. Rules to participate
No purchase of any goods or services is necessary to be eligible for entry into the competition, which is open to those who attend the Rock Band promotional evenings. Entry and participation in the competition are free of charge. Entrants must use tracks selected by EA from EA's Rock Band game without any additional materials, downloads, plug-ins or patches. Whilst individuality and creativity is encouraged, entrants must not improvise or change or add to lyrics. All entrants will be required to sign an entry form, as well as an artist release form in which you will, amongst other things, agree to your performance being photographed, recorded and filmed and this material being used for promotional purposes. By entering, each member of the band agrees not to do anything to bring the good name of EA, NME or any of the artists whose material is featured in the Rock Band game into disrepute nor defame them. The only exception to this might be a genuinely lousy performance! For a chance to win, entrants must be present at one of the Rock Band promotional evenings held in conjunction with NME, at one of the following club venues:
Reading, Rivermead Centre - 22, 23 or 24 August
London, KOKO - 5 September or 24 October
Brighton, Coalition - 24 September or 1 October
Swansea, Sin City - 26 September or 3 October
Hull, The Welly - 27 September or 4 October
Bristol, The Croft - 30 September
Entrants will form rock bands of four members and will play the Rock Band video game to compete for the audiences' appreciation. Selected bands from each of the promotional events will be invited to attend the "Battle of Trafalgar" final on 31st October 2008. The final event will be held in Trafalgar Square, London on 31st October 2008 and will see finalists perform live on stage - each finalist will be judged and a winner subsequently selected. Finalists from outside London will have one night's accommodation in London paid for as well as free "artist passes" to the Be the One event. You will have to pay for your own travel and food costs. The bands selected at the promotional events and final are at the sole discretion of the judges whose decision will be final. Remember that winning this competition will be down to more than how well you play the Rock Band game, it will also depend on you giving a compelling visual performance on stage. ASC reserve the right to invite a finalist to attend the "Battle of Trafalgar" event without having participated in the above promotional tour. By entering, you agree to be bound by these Rules in relation to this competition.
