London W1 Wag Club

German electronica might have been the cause of some truly po-faced drone bobbins, but amazingly it's just given birth to a two-headed sleaze-rock monster.

Tonight, we come face to face with the blond-mopped, leather-clad, ne'er-do-wells, Dakar & Grinser. Chain-smoking and apparently filled to the gills on hard liquor, it soon becomes apparent they're in the mood for some serious Teutonic freakiness.

"Take me naked", croons Dakar, gyrating his leather packet like a man possessed - skipping, jiving and hopping around like Iggy Pop fronting the Pet Shop Boys on PCP. Considering that this is only the duo's second ever gig, you can't help thinking that Dakar was born to be a rock star.

It's a tragedy that tonight's discerning clientele don't fully embrace D&G's red-light district vibes. And although their psycho-ward version of 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' gets a few cheers, the dynamic duo demand better than this. Here's a one-off group, operating on their own crazy rules and that's what we need right now.

Gary Numan's greatest hits via Dave Lee Roth, Kraftwerk and The Stooges? Genius.
