I Sings

Great gospel voices, funky guitar, bumping R&B beats...

I Sings

Sisters Erica and Tina Atkins would like to thank God for the gifts they've been given. Not just a little thank-you buried deep in the sleevenotes of their CD, mind you, but a huge, great THANKS GOD writ large over every groove of their new single.

If they were thankful for their blessings on the brilliant 'Shackles (Praise You)', they're even more thankful on 'I Sings', its slinky follow-up. And over the 14 tracks of their debut album 'Thankful'? Well, yes, they're pretty thankful there as well.

And why not? There's a lot to like about 'I Sings': two great gospel voices and an undeniably uplifting vibe, a funky guitar line and some bumping R&B beats (which I'd like to think were an act of God, but should probably be credited to sometime Dru Hill producer Warryn Campbell). It might not be in the same league as the sublime 'Shackles', but it's pretty good all the same.

Feel free to insert your own joke about faint praise here. Thanks.
