BBMak : Back Here
The Brit trio come back to the UK after conquering America - but will they succeed?
Americans are stupid, we like to think. It's a well known fact, we think. How we scoff at their inability to elect a president, eat less than their own body weight per day, or pronounce Leicester Square properly. Strange then that the benchmark for pop success for us Brits depends on whether you can 'crack the American market'.
BBMak are such an act and, despite the fact that they only crossed the pond in the first place because no one in their own country cared one jot for their sophisticated, harmony singing, own-instrument-playing brand of boy band pop we, the nation, have decided to give them a second chance. And quite right too.
You'll have heard the pleasant crooning of 'Back Here' a zillion times if your radio is tuned to a station with adverts on it but whether they've got what it takes to make a huge impact on the UK market remains to be seen. And anyway, if you've climbed Everest where's the thrill in walking up a hill? Even if that hill is in your own back garden.
