Firstborn : Last To Leave EP
We will continue to watch their space with great interest.
It's mod madness now! Do we
sniff an imminent style-mag fashion splurge on Sta-Press and Ben Shermans or what? Firstborn claim to make modern northern soul, and in using ancient northern soul singer, Mary Love Comer, to blast through 'Miracles' they can at least plant a flag of NS authenticity in their dark hip-hop. But Dubliner Oisin Linn's music deserves much better than to saddle itself with such retro labels. This is the sound of bass triumphing above all others, of dark corners in dangerous places, of smoke and dust and madness: the kind of record that Massive Attack would no doubt love to return with. We will continue to watch their space with great interest.
