Lone Pigeon : Touched By Tomoko

Gordon Anderson used to be in an early incarnation of The Beta Band until ill health cruelly knocked him out of circulation. Yet even without such a melancholy background, this hoard of beautiful song- shards could have Will Oldham seeking out a cheap deal to Ayia Napa for a bit of sun and a dance. Its very ephemerality makes it all the more alluring. 'Summertime Beeswing' is a spiralling Beta folk-jam, but elsewhere come clear-voiced love lullabies and, in 'Mean Old Mind Of Men', a lost tape of an early Lennon/McCartney rehearsal. He might have missed the bus, but he's up to speed all the same.
