Melys : Slagging off tourists EP
Here, Melys sound like vintage new wavers [b]Penetration[/b], which is a very fine thing indeed.
Skip the first track, the one where these flinty Welsh art-popsters were still figuring out how their battered drum
machine
worked. But by the time they get to third track 'Mae'n Amser I Newid' they're cooking with gas because it's a sparkly, shimmery piece of lo-fi dream-pop wonderment. And 'Porn Myself' is just as good; a sugar-rush lament about bad hair days and the thin line between artistic compromise and prostitution. Here, Melys sound
