Matthew Herbert's left-field delvings into house and techno have always been lush, humane and impeccably detailed. And so it is here, but the song itself seems an oddly listless and conservative snapshot from his forthcoming 'Bodily Functions' album. Spare and stately, with a plaintive female vocal draped elegantly across froggy belches and twitchy dub-tech trimmings, 'Leave Me Now'
is a rather like an architect-designed penthouse. Classy, but just a bit cold.
