The stutters and leaps of UK garage have always owed as much to the simmering polyrhythms of Brazilian samba as to the elastic basslines of Jamaica - this elegant meeting of minds just joins the dots. Patife and Porto ooze easy sensuality with a sun-bronzed hybrid of flighty drum'n'bass and sun-kissed Portuguese vocals. Elsewhere, Patife and De Castro thread a snaking two-step rhythm around a tumbling loop of latin piano jazz. Out of step, literally, with everything else reviewed on this page but probably the most genuinely soulful record here.
