Emerging from the same lyrical standpoint as India.Arie's forthcoming release 'Video', 'Name' is the debut single for Brit 'conscious sista' Marissa Anglin. For what it is - a self-assertive stab at encouraging good self-esteem based on remaining who you are and how God made you - it's cool.
Wisely, the track's pontificating isn't the only thing going for it - it's danceable thanks to an echoing bassline and its overall Arrested Development vibe. But that's 'danceable' in a bob your head way, not dance as in 'bust a move', which renders this one for the bopping around the front room rather than the clubs.
