Nikka Costa : Like A Feather
An auspicious debut from the well-connected Nikka Costa...
Clipped, sprung and a whole lot like Prince's devastating 'Kiss', an auspicious debut from the well-connected (D'Angelo, Sinatra, Nancy Reagan) Nikka Costa. She appears to be singing down a dodgy telephone line for most of 'Like A Feather', to add that authentic Macy Gray crackle and croak; as her awful performance supporting Beck the other week proved, it serves to stop her smashing glass on the high notes. Most everything else in her show, sadly, was like Anastacia having a dirty fight with Lenny Kravitz. A great future, if only for these three-and-a-half minutes.
