Brown, Ian : Whispers
This version has some new lyrics. Which still don’t make any sense...
As has been a bit of a theme with the Ian Brown of late, if it’s all about vibe then we’re fine ‘cos this has got it by the shedfull (syncopated, moody, clattering drums, a vast swathe of swooshy string business, and so on), but if it’s about being able to construct any sort of recognisable ringtone then it is, frankly, all over. The CD single also features a re-recording of the ‘classic’ (it says here) single ‘My Star’, which was his first single after stopping being the frontman with one of the most overrated acts in UK chart history.
