Shaggy : Me Julie
...the secret of being an irritating comedy figure is knowing when to stop - about two years ago would have been sensible...
It's hard to imagine that
Shaggy needs the money, so you can only assume that he found this pitiful novelty record amusing. In which case Mr Boombastic clearly needs to work on his sense of humour or the laydeez will be gone, gone, gone. As for Sacha Baron Cohen, the secret of being an irritating comedy figure is knowing when to stop - about two years ago would have been sensible. Not so much "aiiii" as "argh", ‘Me Julie' – a tribute to Mr G's mythical girlfriend - is a lumpen dancehall growl that rhymes "Julie" with "goolies" and proves SBC couldn't rap if his credibility depended on it. Start planning your excuses, Shaggy. ‘It Wasn't Me' just won't cut it this time.
