Best of the dome-headed dance titans...

Orbital : Work 1989-2002

7 / 10 It's a fine line between clever and stupid, and it's one that Orbital have walked for the last 13 years. No strangers to the difficult concept, and latterly no strangers to bad musical jokes, the genius in Paul and Phil Hartnoll's scheme has always lain somewhere between the two. Masters of the slightly arty good time, the pair held the keys to the festival kingdom (in the mid-'90s the two brothers with torches on their heads ruled the hearts and minds of the unwashed), and it's that kind of euphoria which this best of ('Halcyon', 'The Box', 'Lush'), aims to capture, and does pretty well. Taste permits, however, we brush over the one with David Gray on it.
