Silt : In Line
Their intent is good. Their will is strong. Their songs, unfortunately, aren't...
Hard to believe, but once you've written the words "- Blur-approved
Icelandic rock", it's downhill all the way. Silt have clearly tried
very, very hard to make this single exciting - they stop, they start,
they stop again, anything to show they are not just another boring rock band playing it safe - but ‘In Line' could be used as the theme to 'Big Brother 3' and still no one would recognise it.
There's obviously a lot of sturdy art-rock ambition here, yet at this point in the life of Silt, that's like having a video without a television set. Their intent is good. Their will is strong. Their songs, unfortunately, aren't.
