Ladytron : Seventeen

Ladytron
could well be the 21st Century New Order. A take on melancholic dance music from a rock perspective, they bring gravitas to ephemeral electro, a face to ‘faceless dance music’ and incredible somgwriting that ensures their records will remain when they ones that inspired them have faded away. Ladytron’s favourite band, their last album ‘604’ did as much to spearhead electroclash as his ‘Kittens And Thee Glitz’. But Ladytron
are too special just to slot into a movement.

‘Seventeen’ shows a band in total command of its voice; a moody, romantic synth pulse that makes you want to dress up, go out and have nocturnal adventures.

It’s a term debased, traduced and abused, but Ladytron
are perfect pop.
