Hope Of The States : Black Dollar Bills

Attention, indie fetishists: Hope Of The States are Chichester’s answer to God Speed You Black Emperor. But luckily, seems we can mention the word ‘chorus’ in their company without them sternly buggering off to a treehouse, because ‘Black Dollar Bills’ tethers its breathless expanse of shimmering cymbal crashes ((I)Nice one – Ethereal Imagery Ed(I)) and see-sawing strings down to earth with a touch of Clearlake-style schmindiness, courtesy of frontman Sam Herily’s sky-gazing vocals. Seven minutes of quiet wonder, not an anarchist commune in sight.
