Seldom do we stumble across bands as totally fucking perfect as The Rogers Sisters: a trio of purdy new-wave rascals from Williamsburg who play stoopid Joy Division and Tina Turner covers at Brooklyn loft parties just for shits and giggles. Their slow, snakish ‘(I’m A) Ballerina’ is a profoundly enigmatic choice of single. But on the flip, they take Captain Beefheart’s ‘Zig Zag Wanderer’ and turn it into a twitchy, addictive Jonathan Richman-style punk stutter sharp enough to leave your average New York poseur looking like the talentless clotheshorse he truly is. Fantastic.
