The black sheep of the Oz management stable which boasts Jet, Vines and the soon-to-be-huge Neon, Rocket Science are almost spitefully uncommercial and all the better for it. Propelled by the psychotic delivery of six-foot four ex-psychiatric nurse Roman Tucker, ‘One Robot’ is so wilfully obscure it could reduce the tour bus revelry on the recent Jet, The Hiss booze up (I mean, ‘tour’) to a morgue-like silence quicker than news that the nearest off-licence is twenty miles away. "This noose around your neck will make you black and bleak" splutters Roman like a man who’s seen the apocalypse on acid and knows the machines will get us in the end. B-side ‘In My Head’ is the sound of an early Verve (or even, new wonderlings The Open), gliding down a motorway at midnight toward the inevitable pile up. Eerie like a car crash.
