Straw
Home Work EP(Columbia)
Formerly the band that no-one could ever remember, Straw have taken
decisive action. Sniffing the wind, they've sensed a sea-change in the British
music scene and have decided to relaunch themselves as Travisplay 72. Their new
material is melancholic, orchestral, and not entirely their own idea. Still, the
lead track here ('Watching You Sleep') is quite sweet, and - who knows? -
if they'd released it 12 months ago, they might just have got away with it. As it
is, they didn't. And they won't.
