Choke EP

A post-goth soundscape in search of a David Lynch movie...

Cocteau Twins guitarist Robin Guthrie dusts down his guitar pedal marked 'shimmering rivulets of spangled beatitude' for this new collaboration with breathy chanteuse Siobhan de Mare, formerly of Mono and voice behind the sublime cod-Gallic Ford Focus advert soundtrack 'Life In Mono'. We might resonably have expected a mash-up of pearlescent sound effects and opiated sighs for the duo's debut - which is exactly what 'Choke' offers; four swooningly desolate torch songs radiant with drowsy loveliness. A touch listless here and there, mind - slightly stronger tunes might be needed to support the pair's four-poster bed of velvet-draped opulence. But this is choice gear, a post-goth soundscape in search of a David Lynch movie.
