Teflon Monkey / Mountain Men Anonymous : As The Duck Bit Back Part One

Ahhh, now this, Tarquin, must be that long-awaited return of the indie aesthetic we've been hearing about down the Hairy Arsecrack nights at the Notting Hill Extremely Indie Indeed Centre. The first release of some kind of wildfowl-themed monthly singles club from Big Scary Monsters. This month, Wales!

Mountain Men Anonymous do that Mogwai/Godspeed! trick of going, 'Oh yes, we may just be hitting a cello very slowly with a dead cat at the moment, and we may well do so for a good 20 minutes yet, but there's gonna be a BLOODY BIG NOISE coming along pretty soon, oh yes.' Except they don't actually get around to the noise bit, so skip them and head straight for Teflon Monkey (or Rhodri as it's known to its mates, Super Furry Animals), who offers the most delicate acoustic lament ever to be called 'The Life And Times Of Genghis Khan'. Er, and his second track is a delicate acoustic lament with a chainsaw on the end called 'Bateman'. Catch him before the News Of The World has him lynched.
